May 14, 2025 – The TheLegacyof1776.Com recently recognized the winners of its 2025 Bucks County High School Civics Scholarship Essay Contest; first-place winner, Brendan Bittman (a Holy Ghost Preparatory School senior) and runner-up Anthony Kurley (a senior attending Neshaminy High School).
Brendan Bittman, a graduating senior from Holy Ghost Preparatory High School, was this year’s first-place winner was presented with a Certificate of Recognition, a Membership in the National Constitution Center (courtesy of the Center) and a $2,500 scholarship award.

Brendan is a senior at Holy Ghost Prep. He is the secretary of the National Honor Society, and a member of the math, social studies, English, and Spanish honor societies. In addition, Brendan is the secretary-general (president) of the Model UN team where he has helped lead the team to several awards at international competitions. He is also a part of the mathletes and speech and debate teams. Brendan will be attending Boston College where he plans to pursue an international studies major and pursue a career in global relations.
Anthony Kurley, a Neshaminy High School graduating senior was this year’s runner-up. He has received with a Certificate of Recognition, a Membership in the National Constitution Center (courtesy of the Center) and a $1,000 scholarship award.

Throughout high school, Anthony maintained Distinguished Honor Roll status, was inducted into the National Honor Society, and received a Certificate of Merit from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He was named Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Middletown Township and earned 1st Team SOL Patriot Division All-League in varsity golf. I played four years of varsity golf and four years of high school baseball, including two years on varsity, and participated in club baseball. This fall, Anthony will be attending Clemson University as a computer science major in its Honors College, with a minor in artificial intelligence, and plan to pursue a master’s degree.
