Welcome to the Third Annual Bucks County High School
Civics Scholarship Essay Contest
Open to all Bucks County High School Seniors
(whether attending a Public, Charter, Private, Technical, Religious or Other High School)
The winner will receive a $2,500.00 scholarship and Runner-up a $1,000 scholarship; and both will receive a one-year’s membership to the National Constitution Center (courtesy of the Center).
- An acceptance of violence to achieve democratically-unattainable goals.
- The January 6th 2021 assault on the U.S. Capitol.
- The public’s loss of faith in some our nation’s most historically-trusted and important institutions.
- The significant number of Americans who feel alienated or threatened by evolving societal and demographic changes.
- A willingness to advocate the censorship of speech with which they disagree.
- Embracing baseless conspiracy theories.
“Interested students are encouraged to submit a 300–500 word essay detailing what they believe to be the greatest threats to our representative democracy, the liberties enshrined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and the aspirations highlighted in the Declaration of Independence … and how they might be realistically mitigated.”

The Winner and Runner-up will be announced in the spring of 2025.
